SAGDAW Week at Loyola
For the past 20+ years, Loyola has taken part in SAGDAW, which stands for Sexuality and Gender Diversity Awareness Week. This weeklong celebration is highly visible on campus, with rainbow flags and posters being put up overnight for a wow factor. (In actuality, a group of students, admin, and professors gather at 5am each year to make this possible!)
As a student, I love waking up and seeing the amazing colorful campus that is put on display each spring. A big issue with queer communities is visibility, so I appreciate the university actively choosing to participate and help each year.
While there's formal programming that is put on throughout the week, one of the biggest things is the decor. Campus is covered with pride flags in the grass, colorful banners in buildings, and anything rainbow is on display!
